Without the parking waitlist, employees who drive to the office cannot know when a parking spot becomes free. They check the Dashboard repeatedly, or they park somewhere else. The parking waitlist notifies them when a spot becomes available at the time they want.
The parking waitlist uses the Parking Spot resources on your office maps. Employees can also join the parking waitlist when they book a desk and no parking spot is free at the same time.

Before you begin
The parking waitlist uses the parking setup that already exists in your Workplace account. Ensure that you have these items before employees use the parking waitlist:
The Parking Spot resource type, under Settings > Advanced Settings > Resource Types. Add the Parking Spot resource type →
At least 1 Parking Spot resource on an office map. Employees can book only Parking Spot resources on an office map.
For employees who use Microsoft Teams, use the OfficeRnD Workplace app in Microsoft Teams.
How the parking waitlist works
Employees can book parking until every parking spot is booked for a period. After that, employees can join the parking waitlist for that period. The period matches the booking mode of the Parking Spot resource type. With Date, the period is a whole day. With Time, the period is a time range.
When a parking spot becomes free during that period, Workplace notifies the employee. For example, a parking spot becomes free when another employee cancels a parking booking.
Important: The parking waitlist does not book the parking spot for the employee. To get the parking spot, the employee must book it after receiving the notification.
Join the parking waitlist from the Dashboard
An employee who needs only parking starts on the Dashboard. The Dashboard shows how many parking spots are free. When no parking spot is free for the day, the Dashboard offers the parking waitlist.
In the Web Portal, go to Dashboard. The Dashboard shows the number of free parking spots for the day.
If no parking spot is free, click Join Waitlist.
Select the period that you want.
Click Join Waitlist to join the parking waitlist for that period.
You can also join the parking waitlist in Microsoft Teams.
Join the parking waitlist when you book a desk
An employee who books a desk can join the parking waitlist in the same flow. You don't need to go to the Dashboard after booking a desk.
After you book a desk, Workplace offers a parking spot for the same time. If no parking spot is free for that time, Workplace offers the parking waitlist instead.
Book a desk from the Dashboard or the office map.
When Workplace offers the parking waitlist, click [Join waitlist button label]. You join the parking waitlist for the same time as the desk booking.
Book the parking spot after the notification
The notification tells the employee that a parking spot is free for the period on the parking waitlist. The employee then books the parking spot as usual.
In the Web Portal, go to Dashboard.
Select the day for which you want to book the parking spot.
Click Find Parking.
Select a parking spot and click Book Parking Spot next to the number of free parking spots.
Best practices
If employees ask you to hold or assign parking spots by hand, share this article with them. The parking waitlist tells them when a parking spot becomes free. Then you don't need to track their requests yourself.
